Gordon Everette Peoples, 80, affectionately known to his family as “Grandpoo,” of Chester unexpectedly passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. Born in Williamsburg, VA, he was the son of the late Harry Thomas and Elizabeth Stott Peoples. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Thomas Peoples, Jr. and Stanley Edward Peoples. Mr. Peoples is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cynthia Hinkson Peoples; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Peoples Ranson and her husband, Edward “Biff” Ranson; son, Gordon Gregory Peoples and his wife, Kimberly Sousa Peoples; grandchildren, Alison Paige Peoples, Aubrey Noell Peoples, Parker Everette Binford Ranson, and Cooper Thomas Baker Ranson and other loving family members. In his spare time he enjoyed gardening, golfing, trips to the beach, cheering on the East Carolina Pirates and rooting for his grandchildren at all their various sporting events. Grandpoo enjoyed life to the fullest and carried a smile wherever he went, never meeting a stranger. He will be truly missed. At Gordies request, those who wish may wear the colors purple or gold in his honor. A celebration of life will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A visitation will follow until 4 pm.
