Grace Cooke Jackson, 93, of Colonial Heights, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at her residence. Born in Scotland Neck, NC, she was the youngest of seven children. After graduating as valedictorian of her high school, she married Wilbur “Dick” A. Jackson, Sr., a year later in 1941 and moved to Petersburg. Many of her working years were spent with Rucker-Rosentstock and Thalhimers. Mrs. Jackson was a long-time member of Immanuel Baptist Church, and more recently, Second Chance Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ara Hall Warren; husband of 53 years, Wilbur A. Jackson, Sr.; and her six siblings, Myrtle, Ruby, Mildred, Mabel, Gertrude, and Roy. She is survived by her son, Wilbur “Dick” A. Jackson, Jr., of Colonial Heights; grandson, Douglas W. Jackson (Kelly); three great-granddaughters, Kasey Shea (John), Lindsey Jackson and Megan Jackson; and great-great grandchildren, Evan and Emma-Kate Shea, all of Chester. A special thanks to Jennifer Shaffer for the dedicated, personal care she provided. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 3, 2017 at Southlawn Memorial Park.
