Grace Mallory Rives, age 86, formerly from Lawrenceville, VA, passed away in Hopewell, Va., April 22nd, 2015. Grace was preceded in death by her parents Dr. James Baugh Mallory, Jr., D.D.S. and Eva Butterworth Mallory of Lawrenceville; sisters Ella Mallory Gay and Sue Mallory Deane; and her husband and life mate of 64 years, Carlton Wilson Rives of McKenney, Va. She is survived by sister Frances Mallory Miller of Watkins Glen, NY; daughter Frances Rives Keith and husband Phil of Knoxville, TN; son, John Mallory Rives and wife Betsy and two grandchildren, Zachary Wilson Rives and Elizabeth Ashby Rives, all from Alexandria, VA; sisters-in-law, Louise Rives Metz of Mountainside, NJ; Jacqueline Hardy Rives of McKenney; five nieces and one nephew; and, a gracious and beloved network of neighbors, life-long friends and care providers. Grace Rives retired as a Second grade school teacher and teaching business and commerce at Fort Pickett, Va. She received her undergraduate degree from Longwood College, where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hopewell. Visitation will be held at the family's home from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, Sunday, April 26. Graveside services will be held at Asbury Memorial Cemetery, in McKenney, on Route 1, at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 27. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury Memorial Cemetery, in care of Asbury Memorial Methodist Church, 10502 Doyle Blvd. McKenney, VA. 23872.
