Mrs. Grace Kuruvilla Verghese, 95, from Chester, Virginia, peacefully passed away on February 6, 2023. Born and raised in Kerala, India. Mrs. Grace Verghese was the wife of late, Dr. George K. Verghese and daughter of late, Kuruvilla Koshy and Annamma Kuruvilla.
Mrs. Grace Verghese was a graduate of St. Teresa's Women's College in Cochin, Kerala, India. She was survived by her son, George Sunil Verghese and wife, Sophia Thomas Verghese; her granddaughters, Leia Grace Verghese and Hannah Omana Verghese of Chester, Virginia. Mrs. Grace Verghese was an active member of South Hill United Methodist Church, Chester United Methodist Church, and South Asian Christian Association.
Grace was kind-hearted, God-fearing, generous, and always full of love. She loved reading the Bible, being around her family and she lived for her granddaughters.
"Feel no guilt in laughter, she knows how much you care. Feel no sorrow, in a smile that she's not here to share. You cannot grieve forever; she would not want you to. She'd hoped you can carry on, the way you always do. So, talk about the good times and the way you showed you cared. The days you spend together all the happiness you shared."
A funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 2pm EST. Located at 12132 Percival St., Chester, Virginia 23831, Chester United Methodist Church. Interment/Burial Rights will be held on Monday, February 13, 2023 at 11am EST. Located at 116 E. 3rd St. South Hill, Virginia 23970, Oakwood Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Grace Verghese will receive friends for viewing from 6pm-8pm EST Friday, February 10, 2023 located at 3050 West Hundred St., Chester, Virginia 23831, Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to Southside Virginia Community College, Alberta, Virginia.
