Gracie Pearl Brooks

Pearl Maitland Brooks, 102, of Petersburg, passed away on February 23, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, M. Guy and Mary Ann Maitland; the love of her life, Lawrence E. Brooks; her brother, C. Wilbur Maitland and his wife, Barbara; her sisters, Gladys M. Richardson and her husband, Harvey, and Doris M. Foederer and her husband, J. Marty; and her son-in-law, J. William Repak. Pearl loved her family and was a much loved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother (Grandmommie), and great-grandmother (Gram). Most of all, she loved God and her church. Her first job was at Kresge's Five and Dime at 17. She then worked in the shirt factory at Petersburg, and afterwards at the PEWAC oil company. After this, she and Lawrence began L.E. Brooks Septic Tanks, and she answered phone calls and did billing and all banking. She is survived by her daughters, Valerie Fisher and Daryll B. Repak; grandchildren, Andrew W. Repak (Kim), Paul A. Repak (Susan), J. Nelson Savage III, Lauren B. Savage; great-grandchildren, Alexander T. Repak and Sydney N. Repak; niece, Brenda Poole (Lance), whom she helped to raise; many nieces and nephews; and cousin, Forrest Wells. The family will receive friends on Monday, February 28, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg Chapel, 103 S. Adams Street. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church, 3355 Johnson Road, Petersburg, VA.
