Grayson Payne Austin, 10, of Prince George, went to live with Jesus on Saturday, July 21, 2012. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Phillip W. and Shirley A. Austin; and his maternal grandfather, William H. Morris, III. Our beautiful son, survived by his loving parents, Calvin W. and Melinda M. Austin of Prince George, and younger brother Sterling W. Austin, loved life to the fullest. Grayson leaves to cherish his memory his Nanna, Linda M. Cairns, and Grandpa Tom Cairns of Colonial Heights; His Auntie Dawn and Uncle Mitch Upton, and cousins Haley and Olivia of Dinwiddie. Uncle James and Aunt Madelene, and cousins Billy and Taylor of Ashburn, VA; his great-grandmother, Virginia C. Morris of Colonial Heights; and his great-aunt Wendy and Uncle Paul A. Martin, Sr. of Colonial Heights, and cousins Paul Jr. and Matthew; his great-grandmother and great-grandfather, Thelma and Jack Wainwright of Wilsons, VA.
Grayson was a vibrant, vivacious boy who had a passion for baseball, golf, and fishing. He played USSSA travel baseball for the Virginia Predators, and played on the Richmond Junior Golf Tour in addition to recreational baseball and basketball in Prince George County. Grayson was an uprising fifth grader at William E. Walton Elementary in Prince George. Grayson leaves a host of friends behind from his many activities.
A memorial service to honor his life will be held at Christ & Grace Episcopal Church, 1545 S. Sycamore St., Petersburg, VA 23803, on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 11:00am officiated by Rev. David Teschner. At the conclusion of the service, Calvin and Melinda will greet family and friends in the church Fellowship Hall. The family is being served by the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home.
