Gregory Taylor Firebaugh, 48, of Chester, VA passed away on March 21, 2012 after bravely fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Greg is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Tobee Sampson Firebaugh; four dedicated sons, Lance, Trevor, Dustin and Patrick; mother, Terri Johnson; father and step-mother, John and Lynn Firebaugh; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Mollie Firebaugh; sister and brother-in-law, Dianna and Randy Clouse; step-sister and her husband, Sarah and Steve Jenkins; mother and father-in-law, Kitty and Buddy Sampson; sister-in-law and her husband, Vickie and Wayne Clark; nieces, Ashleigh Mills, Heather Clouse, Allie Firebaugh, Lucy Firebaugh, Hattie Firebaugh and great-niece Blakeleigh Smith; nephews, Michael Smith, Tommy Mills, Taylor Clarke; and great-nephews, Daniel and Nathan Jenkins and Cody Krueger; and other Firebaugh and Barfield cousins, aunts and uncles.
Greg was a 1982 graduate of Thomas Dale High School and a star football player for the Knights. Greg was proud of his work as a Superintendent for SRC, Inc and was highly regarded there. He was best known for his devotion to his family and his strong work ethic. Greg lived by the Golden Rule and was widely respected for his integrity and compassion for others. One of Greg's favorite pastimes was being part of his sons' baseball games, either as a coach or raving fan. Greg was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed until we can rejoin him in Heaven. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Laughlin and Pastor Dan Lipford officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Chester, Virginia.
