Gregory David Smith

Gregory David Smith, 48, of Chester, VA passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Nathan Michael Smith. He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma I. Smith; sons, John Moore (Ashley), and David Smith (Ashley); his mother, Marie DeHart; father, David Smith; sister, Kim Smith; stepbrothers, Mike Templeton (Janet); Phil DeHart (Teri); stepsister, Marie Jaques (Bob); his best friend, Troy Miller (Anissa); and numerous extended family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Greg was a member of Sunny Slope Hunt Club and River Road Hunt Club. He worked in the HVAC field for over 29 years, most recently as a Foreman at Fort Lee. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2016 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, 3050 W. Hundred Rd., Chester, VA 23831. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Salem Baptist Church 5930 Centralia Rd.
