Gwen Holland

Gwen H. Holland 91, of Hopewell passed away on May 6, 2011 in John Randolph Hospital following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Lily Hawkins and her husband James E. Holland Jr.
Mrs. Holland was a former executive secretary at Ft. Lee. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell, where she served as a elder. In her younger years she taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir.
Her survivors include her daughter, Joan Holland of Hopewell, VA; brother John B. Hawkins of Colfax, NC; nephew, Dr. John W. Hawkins of Richmond, VA; and her niece Jane Hawkins of Raleigh, NC.
The family will receive friends from 7pm to 8:30pm on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A service will be held at the Funeral Home at 1pm on Tuesday May 10, 2011 with Dr. Ron Bullis pastor of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
