Harold Andrew Alger, 64, of Chesterfield County, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014. Born in Welch, WVA, he was a graduate of Montcalm High School and Bluefield State College. He worked for A & N stores for approximately 20 years, then was the owner and operator of Pet Plus Pet Store at Chesterfield Town Center. He was last employed by Fas Mart. Mr. Alger was preceded in death by his father, William Francis Alger; mother, Josie Reed Alger, and brother-in-law, Rex E. Dykes. He is survived by his sister, Billie A. Dykes; step-mother, Ethel Grego Alger; nephew, Kevin P. Dykes; step-sisters, Joan Lockhart Compton and husband, Ron, and Mary Virginia Little and husband, David; uncle, Warren Reed and wife, Adele, a large extended family, and his pet macaw, Matthew. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
