Harold Lee Jones

Harold Lee Jones, 86, of Petersburg, VA, died on September 7, 2021. He was born and raised in Nashville, TN and was the son of the late Carl Whitworth and Ethel Marie Gatlin Jones. After graduation from Cohn High School in Nashville, he entered the Army and then spent his entire career serving his country. This included tours of duty in Asia, Germany, several duty stations around the US and finally Fort Lee, VA and retirement in Petersburg. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and good friend to many. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jutta G. Jones. He is survived by his son, Donald S. Jones and his wife, Cindy Vnencak Jones, of Nashville; son, Harold L. Jones, Jr., of Petersburg; and sister, Betty Sue Gann, of Nashville; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Gaddes, Helen Hatcher, and Janie Raines, all of Nashville. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at J.T. Morriss & Son in Petersburg, VA from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. A graveside service including military honors will take place before interment at Blandford Cemetery on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 beginning at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6 Waltham, MA 02451.
