Harrison Marks Chappell, 92, of Carson, Va., and a native of Dinwiddie County, passed away on March 4, 2015. Born on September 2, 1922, Harrison was the son of the late Lucy Harding Webb Chappell and Richard Arthur Chappell; and was also preceded in death by his brother, Arthur Webb Chappell, sister, Lucy Harding Chappell Chambers, and his son, Richard Connelly Chappell. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ann Clark Chappell, and his sons, James Harrison Chappell and his wife, Beverly T. Chappell, William Jarratt Chappell, and Franklin Clark Chappell; grandchildren, Brooke Chappell Hensley, Meredith Ann Chappell Martin, and Lee Jarratt Chappell; great-grandchildren, Lila Hensley, and Eli James Hensley; nieces, Rebecca C. Scanlon and Nancy W. Williams; one nephew, Arthur Webb Chappell, Jr.; and health care aide, Brenda Wells. Harrison graduated from Carson High School and attended Fork Union Military Academy. He served in World War II and was very proud of his military service to our country. He was a retired farmer and member of Carson United Methodist Church and the American Legion. A graveside funeral service will conducted at 11:00a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, Va., followed by a reception in the fellowship hall of Carson United Methodist Church, 17407 Halligan Park Road, Carson, VA 23830.
