Harry Hampton Hobbs Jr

Harry Hampton “Sonny” Hobbs, Jr, 91, of Spring Grove, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2015. Born in Prince George, he was the son of the late H. Hampton Hobbs, Sr. and Ellie Mae Harrison Hobbs. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Alma Peebles Horne, Elsie Mae Gibbs, and Emmett Floyd Horne. Sonny was a faithful member of Newville United Methodist Church, along with VFW Post # 622, American Legion Post # 141 and the Newville Hunt Club. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elizabeth Braswell Hobbs; two daughters, Kathy Stell and her husband, David, and Kaye McDaniel and her husband, Farron; son, Thomas “TC” Hobbs and his wife, Karen; sister, Betty Minetree; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Nancy Horne; and numerous other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
