Harry Wallace Hylton, 89, of Chester, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2008, at his daughterâ??s and son-in-lawâ??s home after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wives, Josephine Wirt Hylton and Grace Atkins Hylton, three brothers, and five sisters. He was a member of West End Presbyterian Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Elder. He was born in Covington, VA the son of Charles Colombus Hylton and Pearl Johnson. His childhood was spent at the Presbyterian orphanage Home in Lynchburg, VA, where he met his first wife. He graduated from the home and moved to Richmond where he worked at the Lucky Strike Factory. He then moved to the Hopewell area in 1955 and became a plumber working for Covington Plumbing and Heating and Masterâ??s Plumbing and Heating. He retired in 1984 due to his arthritic knees brought on by his football playing years with the shoeless wonders and working as a plumber. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Peggy Minor and husband Edward, granddaughter, Sarah Leigh Canada and husband John, and great-granddaughter Atleigh Ryenne Canada. Also, surviving to cherish his memory are his stepchildren and their families, Jane and Ronnie Burijon, Margaret Trueheart, and Debbie Brinkley. The family will receive friends at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home of Hopewell on Monday, May 5, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will follow there in the chapel on Tuesday, at 1 p.m. with interment in Merchants Hope Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Crater Community Hospice at 840 W.
