Harry Lee Marsh Jr.

Harry Lee Marsh Jr., age 74, of Matoaca, VA passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was preceded in death by Catherine Isaacs and his father, Harry Lee Marsh Sr.. Harry is survived by his wife Constance “Connie” Washburn Marsh; daughters, Tammy Denise Marsh Milby (David) and Rebecca Mae Fletcher (Mat); sons, Captain Harry Lee Marsh III (Rebel) and Ryan Gregory Marsh; grandchildren, Rebecca Marsh, Heather Marsh, Blake Milby, Madison Fletcher and Ryan Fletcher; brothers, Milton Marsh and Bryant Marsh; sister, Betty Gail Davis and many other loved family and friends.
Harry was managing editor of the Progress Index Newspaper for many years and then became the editor of the USSSA Slowpitch Softball Magazine from which he retired. Harry served on the Chesterfield County Planning Commission. He was a member of the Heights Baptist Church and was active in the Appomattox Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Harry was inducted into the New England USSSA Hall of Fame and the Virginia USSSA Hall of Fame. He enjoyed all sports and as a youth excelled at football, baseball and basketball. In his spare time he greatly enjoyed gardening. Harry was kind, gentle and generous with tremendous love for Jesus and his family. Gifted in communication, Harry was an exceptional storyteller. To be sure, he is in heaven today with Jesus, family and friends “making a long story short.”
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 29, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. at J.T. Morriss & Son Dinwiddie Chapel, 6616 Boydton Plank Rd, N. Dinwiddie, VA 23803. A service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dinwiddie Chapel. Internment will follow at Blandford Cemetery. A reception will take place following internment at Matoaca United Methodist Church, 6301 River Rd. South Chesterfield, VA 23803. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Appomattox Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 19902 Ivan Rd. South Chesterfield, VA 23803.
