Harvey "Buddy" Lander Allen, Jr., 81, of Rawlings, VA, passed away on Thursday, December 22, 2022. Born in Petersburg, VA, he was the son of the late Harvey Lander Allen, Sr. and Eloise Brown Allen.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Harmon Allen; stepson, Jimmy Rutledge, and his wife, Karen; grandchildren, Jamie Rutledge, Emily McCoy, and Jill Whittle; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Jocelyn, Landon, Evan, Miles, and Lana; nephews, David Williamson, and his wife, Vickie, and Matt Williamson; and niece, Meghan Williamson.
Buddy was a very passionate person that took pride in caring for and spoiling the love of his life, Mary. In fact, he would do anything for anybody, including his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He did everything in his life to the fullest, whether it was training his dogs for hunting or excelling at his job as a Master Pressman for Reynolds Metal. He served in the Army, in The Vietnam War, as a Paratrooper. Once out of the service he continued parachuting at all kinds of events and on many teams. Buddy took great pride in his farm "River Hill Farm" in Rawlings, Va. where he bred and raised Black Angus cows. He was an avid Hunter and Fisherman.
Anyone that crossed paths with Buddy, throughout his life, will forever be inspired by his passion and love of life!
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at Concord Presbyterian Church, 30 Harpers Bridge Rd., Rawlings, VA 23876. The family will receive friends, one hour prior, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Asbury Memorial UMC Cemetery, McKenney, VA.
