Harvey Saunders Courtney

The Lord has called home one of his most faithful, Harvey Saunders Courtney of Prince George at the age of 83. Harvey is survived by his wife of 58 years, Clara Haynie Courtney; and three children, Faron Courtney and wife, Cynthia, Harvia Courtney Nicol and husband, John and Kelly Courtney Vega and husband, Joseph, Sr. He was the proud grandfather to six grandchildren, Pearson Courtney, Grayson Nicol, Braden Nicol, Jordan Nugent, Charli Nugent and Joseph Vega, Jr. Harvey was also a loving brother and uncle to his sister, Nancy Courtney Harris and husband, Billy; and two nephews, Kent and Norman Harris. To those that knew him he was infamous as a Jack of all trades and a man that never met a stranger. He treated all he met with kindness and respect and was always willing to help those in need. His character and worth are hard to describe with mere words but those that have had the pleasure of his company know and understand the value he brought to those around him. He was an adoring husband, father, and grandfather. His life was a living example of a good and faithful man of God that loved unconditionally. His friendships were many and most were those of a life time. His wants and needs those of a simple man with the guiding principles of God and family first. He lived a long and joyful life and his family rejoices in his memory rather than mourn his passing. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 on January 31, 2018 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Fischer Center for Alzheimer’s Research, 110 East 42nd Street, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10017 in memory of Mr. Courtney.
