Harvey Thomas Belcher, Sr, 93, of Disputanta, died Saturday, May 8, 2010, at his home. He was born in Chester, VA and was a retired foreman for the Fibers Division of Allied Chemical. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Powell and Ida Lee Presson Belcher, sister Louise Jones, and brothers Joseph Belcher and John Belcher. Mr. Belcher served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII and was a POW in Stalag 17 for 17months. He was a member of the NRA, Catapillar Club, Woodlawn Baptist Church for over 15 years, loved hunting, fishing, golf, gardening and nature. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Coffey Smith Belcher of Disputanta; a son Harvey Thomas Belcher, Jr. & wife, Beverly of Currituck, NC; a daughter, Pam Field & husband, Raleigh of Disputanta, Four grandchildren Brandon Belcher & wife, Julane, of Belvidere, NC Adam Belcher and fiancée Caitlin Thuerk of Raleigh, NC, Jason Field of Midlothian and Justin Field of Williamsburg; nephew Carl Faircloth & wife, Pat, of Howie-in-the Hills, FL; and great-nephews Matt and Jimmy Faircloth and their families of Florida. A graveside service will be held Thursday, May 13, 2010, at 1 p.m. in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens with the Rev.
