Hazel Beasley Miles, 93, of Colonial Heights, VA, died October 29, 2022. Born and raised in Petersburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Henry Beasley, Jr., and Emma (Blick/Georgel/Beasley) Livingston. In addition to being a homemaker for many years, she worked at Titmus Optical Company, and DGSC-Bellwood as a parachute inspector. "Nanny," as she was affectionately called by many, devoted her life to raising her only son, and doting on her three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. She was known for her Christmas spirit and holiday baking, most notably her "kissie" cookies. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her friends, and loved a road trip to a casino to play the slot machines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver J. "Ollie" Miles, Sr; her son, Oliver J. "Jerry" Miles, Jr.; grandson, Oliver "Jeremy" Miles; four sisters, Mary Bishop, Mildred Lamoreaux, Joyce Perkinson, and Evelyn Young; and three brothers, Wilbert Beasley, William Beasley, and Newton Georgel, Sr. She is survived by granddaughters, Melissa Miles Anderson and husband, Robin, of Moseley and Terri Miles Moody and husband, Scott, of Chester; daughters-in-law, Gale Miles, of Dinwiddie and Patricia Johnson Reynolds and husband, Charlie, of Colonial Heights; two granddaughters, Chandler Anderson and Mallory Moody; two grandsons, Brooks Anderson and Evan Moody; and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, November 4, 2022, at 2 pm., at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 3, 2022, from 6 pm-8 pm, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
