Hedwig Spates

Hedwig H. Spates, 74, of Hopewell, passed away Sunday October 11, 2009 surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Wilhelm & Hedwig Goelz Maendle. Hedwig was a member of the Women of the Moose Hopewell Lodge and the German club for over 30 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ernest Spates, children; Isolde Williams of Hopewell, Ellen Dawson, of South Carolina, Doris Carter & husband Robert of Goodyear Arizona, Ernest Junior Spates & wife Shelly, Tricia Carden & husband Jared all of Prince George, grandchildren; Tony Dawson, Krissy Smith & husband Timmy, Jennifer Knight & husband Sean, Michelle & Misty Dawson, Kathy Amos & husband Kenny, Daniel & Matthew Williams, Christopher & Justin Spates, Brianna Carter, Hunter, Dylan & Ryan Carden, 12 great-grandchildren, brother; Dieter Maendle & wife Leslie, sister; Renate Rohr both of Germany, numerous nieces & nephews. The family will receive friends at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T.Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday October 13, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday October 14 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in Southlawn Memorial Park.
