Helen Marie Blackwell

Helen Marie Blackwell, 82, of Prince George, went to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday, November 16, 2016. Born in South Carolina she was the daughter of William and Cecil Poston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Sam Blackwell and son, Robert Michael Blackwell. She was a member of Cut Bank Baptist Church in McKenney. Helen loved her family and her music. She was self-taught at the piano and organ and loved playing for the church before she was afflicted with Alzheimer’s. She is survived by her daughter, Alice Marie Blackwell (Tommy Newell); two sons, Patrick Wayne Blackwell and Timothy Greg Blackwell. Her granddaughters, Rebecca Marie Ragland and Amy Brooke Daspit and grandsons, Jake Blackwell, Luke Blackwell and Patrick Lee Blackwell. She had 3 great grandchildren, Remi Marie Ragland, Kylie Brooke Daspit and Jackson Vining Daspit. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Saturday, November 19th at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm. on Sunday, November 20th at Cut Banks Baptist Church with Pastor Stan Allen officiating, 24203 Cutbank Rd, McKenney, VA 23872. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Cox Rd, Suite 130 Glen Allen, VA 23060.
