Helen Gish

Helen Harding Gish, 87, of Petersburg, died Sunday, October 31, 2004. She was born in Greeley, CO to the late John and Lydia Bernhardt Harding and was raised in Cheyenne, WY. She was the widow of H. Gordon Gish, Ret. Capt. US Army. She was also predeceased by three sisters, Esther Carter, Pauline Dudley and Eleanor Pavlovic and one brother, Harold Harding. Mrs. Gish retired from Crestar Bank. She was a Past President of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, member of Petersburg Federated Women’s Club and the Ladies Memorial Association. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie T. & James L. Kirkland, Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, Jerry L. & Cathy R. Thomas; six grandchildren, Melinda K. Nicholas, Susan K. Soloe, Valerie K. Kipper, Gordon Dale Thomas, Carla T. Dickerson and Jeffrey Allen Thomas; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Leah Sampson and a special friend, Janice Moody. Graveside funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, Nov.4, 2004 at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, Petersburg on Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington Street United Methodist Church, 22 East Washington St., Petersburg, VA 23803.
