Helen Roe Howell

Helen Roe Howell, 88, of Colonial Heights, VA passed away on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Born in Chilhowie, VA she was the daughter of the late Charles Meek and Madeline Childress Rouse; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Francis K. Howell; two sons, Eddie Roe and Gene Roe; and a daughter, Carolyn “Bunny” Jones. Helen was a founding and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Colonial Heights. She retired from Fort Lee as a financial supervisor after 28 years of service. Mrs. Howell is survived by her four children, Brenda Meade, Linda Bryant and husband, Robert, Sandy Smith and Teresa Witte and husband, Chris; three step-children, Dr. Mac Howell and wife, Debbie, Steve Howell and Joan Howell; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; one sister, Dot Poe; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church, 17001 Jefferson Davis Hwy, S. Chesterfield, VA 23834 with the Rev. Dr. Ray Haskett, officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Memorial Park, Prince George, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church.
