Helen Chapman Nicely

Helen Chapman Nicely, 94, of Hopewell, VA closed her eyes to this world and opened them to the fullness of her Savior on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Born in Isle of Wight County, VA she was the youngest daughter of the late Leondias and Lucy Murphy Chapman; and was also preceded in death by two brothers; and three sisters. A devout Christian, Helen surrendered her life to the Lord at a young age and lived her days for him up until the very end. She knew no stranger and always had a place setting for others at her table. Mrs. Nicely was a member of New Covenant Church of the Brethren in Hopewell, VA. She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Darius Stanley Nicely; a son, S. Kevin Nicely; one daughter, Kathy Nicely Dean and husband, Brad; and two grandsons, Jonathan Aaron Dean and David Christian Dean. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Appomattox Cemetery, Hopewell, VA. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018 at the funeral home. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
