Helen Sones

Helen Erika Sones, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 19, 2022. Born in Brieg, Germany to Adolph and Klara Neuber, she invested much of her life as a dedicated Army officer's wife. She lovingly raised all four children at home, and then returned to college herself earning a masters degree to become a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Upon retirement, Helen continued to touch lives and minister to her family and many friends. She demonstrated the love of Christ through a loving and generous heart, bright shining eyes, and an infectious sense of humor. She confirmed a relentless devotion to God and was a mighty prayer warrior and covered her whole family in daily prayer, leaning heavily on her faith in all that she did. She is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Vaughn Sones; her children, Richard Sones (Penny), Tracy Holcomb (Mark), Ronald Sones (Mary), and Kathryn Cox; eight granchildren, Michael Sones, Erin Gautreaux, Jesse Holcomb, Abigail Strate, Joshua Sones, Daniel Sones, Benjamin Sones, and David Sones; and ten great-grandchidren.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Valda Butsch; and her son-in-law, Hagan B. Cox.

The family would like to deeply thank Eva Jackson for her selfless and loving care of Helen.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
