Helen Burr Traina, age 84, of Hopewell, VA, died on Saturday, April 21, 2007. She was born in Toronto, KS, the daughter of the late Charley and Pearl Adkins Burr. She had been a resident of Hopewell and member of St. James Catholic Church for 60 plus years. Early on she was the co-owner and operator of Nitro Lunch Cafeteria located at Allied Chemical. She later went to work and retired from Safeway Grocery Stores, where she worked locally at the Cavalier Square location. Helen enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, she introduced her family to both early on, and some of their fondest memories are of those times. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Sal W. Traina. Surviving are her four children, son, James J. Traina of Miami, FL, daughter, Theresa Traina, and son, Charles â??Jinxâ? Traina and wife Linda both of Hopewell, and daughter Mary A. Traina of Chester, Va; four grandchildren, Christine Stroud, Angela Cease, Shannon Traina, and Blake Traina; two great-grandchildren, Rachel Cease and Derek Stroud; one brother, Claude Burr and wife Marge of Toronto, KS; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Traina will lie in state at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Hopewell on Monday, April 23, 2007, where she may be viewed. A private graveside ceremony will follow in her honor on Tuesday.
