Henry Hunt Galusha, Jr. died on May 13, 2008. He was the son of the late Henry Hunt Galusha and Anna Eloise Bohannan of Dinwiddie County, Virginia. He is survived by his nieces, Mary Kevan Galusha Roper, Anna Hunt Galusha Aquino and Katherine Gordon Galusha Ross and their husbands, George Herbert McNeal Roper, Charles Anthony Aquino and Arthur William Ross, III; their children and a great nephew, Joseph D. Brenton, son of the late Katherine Terrell Brenton Pare. He attended Hampden-Sydney College from 1941 to 1943. He left Hampden-Sydney at age 19 to serve in the U.S. Army. After completing the Armyâ??s Specialized Training Program, which included instruction at Auburn University and Bowdoin College, he was assigned to the 26th Infantry Division referred to as the Yankee Division. His division was a section of General Pattonâ??s 3rd Army that engaged the German Army in France and Belgium, including the Battle of the Bulge. For his service he received three Battle Stars (Rhineland, Northern France and Ardennes), the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. Upon his return from the war, he enrolled at the University of Virginia and graduated with a Batchelor of Arts degree in Economics in 1947. After working for three years with the Virginia Department of Highways, he left to study forestry at the University of Michigan. He graduated with a Master of Forestry degree in 1953. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service and Georgia-Pacific Corporation in Arkansas, Louisiana, and Virginia from 1953 until he retired to Dinwiddie, Virginia in 1981. Mr. Galusha loved history and was devoted to his family and his native Dinwiddie County. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted at 11am on Friday, May 16, 2008 at the graveside in Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
