Herbert Reed Boyd, Jr.

Dr. Herbert R. Boyd, Jr., 95, of Petersburg, VA passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020. He was the son of the late H. Reed Boyd, Sr. and Eula Jesse Arnold Boyd and was also preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Beverly Lackey Boyd. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Frances Dixon Boyd; sons, H. Reed Boyd, III. of Richmond and Stuart Arnold Boyd of Florida; daughter, Amy Boyd Goodman and her husband, Wayne, of Richmond; grandchildren, Jessica Boyd Glaeser and her husband, Philip, of Richmond, Adam Boyd, and Ryan Goodman of Richmond; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors also include Don Poland and his wife, Carol, Katie Poland Hill and her husband, Christoph, and Lesley Poland Cassamajor and her husband, Sean. Herb graduated from University of Richmond and the Medical College of Virginia Dental School. He served in the United States Army and retired as a Lt. Colonel, then moved on to a career in dentistry. He loved spending time with his grandson Ryan whom he called ‘Buddy’. They enjoyed many fishing trips together. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Southlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S Crater Road, Petersburg, VA 23805. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com .
