Herman Gill

Herman Preston Gill, 73, of Mechanicsville, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2004. Born in Dinwiddie County, he was the son of the late Cooper and Kate Wicks Gill. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran, a retired employee of 37 years with Virginia Power, and an honorary member of Diamond Hill Hunt Club. Mr. Gill is survived by his wife, Beulah C. Gill; two daughters, Rene Atkinson of Mechanicsville, VA and Carolyn Mitchell and her husband, Duane Mitchell of Bumpass, VA; grandchildren, Gary Peters and wife, Pam, and Tony Peters all of Mechanicsville, Stacey Penrod of Harrisonburg, VA, and Michael Mitchell of Richmond; great-grandchildren, Tony, Preston, and Skeyler Peters of Mechanicsville; two sisters, Myrtle Foster of Colonial Heights and Peggy Dixon of Church Road; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 30, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 this evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
