Hilda Smith Brown, 72, of Hopewell died Monday, July 5, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Brown was born in Richmond and had been a resident of Hopewell for most of her life. Hilda had a great admiration for birds, was a dedicated fan of the Baltimore Orioles, Washington Redskins and the Cavaliers of the University of Virginia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Parks and Lizzie Hazelwood Smith, a brother, Floyd Smith, two sisters, Myrtle Miller and Thelma Miles. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Alfred Brown of Hopewell, two sons, Thomas Keith Brown and his wife Donna of Chester, Kenneth Parks Brown of Hopewell, two grandchildren, Amber McCray, Aaron McCray, both of Chester, a sister, Kathleen Dolph and her husband Elvin of Weedsport, NY, two sisters-in-law, Marie Smith of Hopewell and Catherine Wells of Dinwiddie and a brother-in-law Melvin Miller of Stanley, VA.. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service which will be held Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. Michael Browder of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Appomattox Cemetery.
