Horace Calder, 90 of Chesterfield Co. passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at his residence. He is preceded in death by his first wife of 41 years Myrtle S. Calder, and brother Earl L. Calder.
He is survived by his second wife of 27 years, Elizabeth Wicks Calder â??Nancyâ?; daughters, Judith C. Henry and Diana Lynn Denson; son, John D. Denson and companion, Chris Russell; son-in-law, Dan Beeler; grandsons, Daniel T. Calder and Toby Williams; great-granddaughter, Paxton G. Calder; cousin, C. J. Short; and other family and friends.
Mr. Calder served our country proudly in the Merchant Marines during WWII on Omaha Beach. He retired from Brown and Williamson after 36 years of service and was a member of Chesterfield Community Church. In his free time he loved listening to bluegrass music, watching NASCAR, and spending time with family, friends and his pets.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Monday, October 18, 2010 at Blandford Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Sunday at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T.
