Horace Davis

Horace Algienon Davis, age 77, of Ford, VA, died on Friday, September 7, 2007. He was born in Ford, the son of the late Henry W. and Mary House Davis. He was the current owner and operator of Horace A. Davis excavating and had been in business for approximately 40 years. Horace was a member of the Colonial Heights Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post 284. He was well known as an excellent mechanic and he thoroughly enjoyed dancing. Horace was preceded in death by a son, Allen Davis and brother, Lloyd Davis. He is survived by a wife of 54 years, Jane A. Davis; three children, Cathy Spain and husband Carl of Church Road, VA, Theresa Crowder and husband John of Sutherland, VA, and Robert Davis and wife Verna of Ford; and six grandchildren, Curtis Spain, April Green and husband Mike, Kyle Vanlandingham, Christopher Spain, Cole Davis and Brian Davis. The family will receive friends at the J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Petersburg, VA on Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 4 to 6p.m. Graveside funeral services will follow on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Corinth United Methodist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions are made to Crater Community Hospice, or to the Corinth United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
