Horace Clinton Jones, 93 of Hopewell died Monday, October 29, 2007 at his residence. Mr. Jones was born in McKenny, VA and had been a long time resident of Hopewell. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Hopewell, where he was a former Deacon and a current member of the Singing Saints Choir, he was a former Associate Pastor of Ridge Baptist Church in Richmond, was past president of the Hopewell Optimist Club and the was owner and operator of Jones Appliance Company for over 30 years. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Sydnor and Eva Royal Jones. A loving father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Field Jones, a son, David Neale Jones and his wife, Connie Smith Jones, two daughters, Lynn Jones Sulc and her husband James Keith Sulc, Sr., Ann Jones Burkey and her husband Justin Lippincott Burkey, Jr., seven grandchildren, Katie Ann Jones, Sheri Lynn Jones, James Keith Sulc, Jr. and his wife Mary Cabell Sulc, Kendall Paige Burkey, Jordan Elizabeth Burkey, Matthew Christopher Sulc, Lauren Sulc Hruska and her husband Bobby and a great grandson, James Keith Sulc, III. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 31, 2007 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 1:00 PM in Blandford Cemetery, Petersburg, VA with the Rev. Jeff Raymond, Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, 401 N. 2nd Avenue, Hopewell, Virginia, 23860 or Alzheimers Association, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Alllen, Virginia, 23060.
