Howard Clayton

CWO Howard Claiborne Clayton, U. S. Navy (retired), 93, of Chesterfield County, passed away Monday, April 24, 2006. Born in Chesterfield County, he was the son of the late William B. and Mary Lee Wimmer Clayton. In addition to his career in the U. S. Navy, he was retired General Manager of Quality Lincoln Mercury in Petersburg. He was a member and deacon of West End Baptist Church, a member of Powhatan Starke Lodge 124 A.F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. Mr. Clayton was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Rebecca Daniel Clayton; brother, J. Fred Clayton, Sr.; and sister, Eleanor Greene. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; a devoted friend, Mollie Ogilvie; and dedicated caregiver, Adriene Drumgole. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 27, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with the Rev. John Crocker officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Interment with Masonic rites will follow at Blandford Cemetery.
