Howard Lee Dixon

Howard Lee Dixon, born on April 30, 1945, in Eugene, Oregon, to the late LeRoy and Marcella Dixon, peacefully passed away on March 12, 2025. A proud Vietnam veteran, Lee served his country diligently in the United States Air Force for 26 years, where he achieved the rank of Colonel and was awarded the Bronze Star and Legion of Merit for his exemplary service. After his retirement, Lee continued giving back to the community through organizations such as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, where he previously served as Commander and was currently the Quartermaster, and the American Legion. He also dedicated time to the Recover Hope initiative.

Lee was a family man at heart, cherished by his loving wife, Donna Dixon; his daughter, Michelle Ward; son-in-law, Matt Ward; and his grandsons, Ben and Zander Ward. He had a remarkable ability to light up a room with his humor, often sharing funny stories and jokes that brought smiles to the faces of those around him. His deep love for his family and passion for helping others defined his life, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and joy.

The celebration of Lee's remarkable life will take place on Monday, March 24, 2025. A public visitation will be held at the Hopewell Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, starting at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service, with full military honors, at 11:00 AM. Lee will be interred at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia at 2:00 PM. His memory will live on through the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the love he inspired. Those who were touched by Lee's spirit are invited to remember him not with sorrow, but with laughter and fond memories of a life well-lived. Lee will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 637, at 1400 Lynchburg St., Hopewell, VA, to honor Lee's unwavering support for fellow veterans.

A further celebration of life will be held April 12, 2025, at VFW Post 637.
