Howard W. “Lou” Sprouse, Sr., 82, of Petersburg, VA., died on February 24, 2016. He was born on June 25, 1933 to the late William and Nora Sprouse. He was preceded in death by his son, Howard “Will” Sprouse, Jr.; his brothers, Richard Sprouse and James Sprouse; his sisters, Esther Childress, Helen Owen and Nora Cotroneo and his best friend Jerry Flowers. After 2 years serving in the Air Force, Lou spent his entire career in the beverage business, retiring from Lee Distributing in 1998. He was a New York Yankees fan all his life, loved NASCAR, music, and working in his yard. But his greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Deloris “Lois” Sprouse; Daughter, Tammy S. Banton; Grandsons Randy “RJ” Banton and Brett Banton; Adopted Daughter, Edith Briggs; Granddaughter, Jessica Briggs; Adopted Grandson Michael Briggs; Son-in-law, Randy Banton, Sr.; extended family; Diane Flowers; Jeri-Ann, Billy, Shane, Brandon and Kaitlyn Tomlin; Steve, Melody, Brad, Chad Eilert and Stephanie Eilert Early; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Dinwiddie Health and Rehab for their loving care in his final months. The family will receive friends, 2:00pm to 3:00pm Saturday, February 27, 2016 with a service to follow 3:00pm at J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home 103 S. Adams St. Petersburg, VA.23803.
