Howard Sr. Temple

Howard Preston Temple, Sr., age 82, of Disputanta, passed away on Sunday May 27, 2012. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Catherine Temple; wife, Mary Lettie Temple; daughter, Carolyn Compton; and granddaughter, Carrie Ann Temple. Mr. Temple worked as an inventory technician for Noldes Bakery retiring after 15 years of dedicated service. He was an avid hunter and loved to fish. He enjoyed gardening and grew fantastic vegetables. It was said that the food out of Grandpaâ??s garden was grown with love and that is why they taste so good. Mr. Temple is survived by his daughters; Dorothy Hicks, Marie Sarter (Chip), and Shirley Rose (Greg); sons, Howard P. Temple, Jr. (Carol), Calvin E. Temple, and Mitchell R. Temple (Robin); sister, Edna Acre; brothers, Wesley Temple (Susan), and Jordon Temple (Barbara); and 20 grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home Petersburg Chapel from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday May 30, 2012. A graveside service will be conducted at Southlawn Memorial Park at 11 a.m. on Thursday May 31, 2012.
