Hunter Martin Robertson

June 30, 1942 — January 6, 2016

Local attorney, Hunter Martin Robertson, son of the late Hunter Maguire and Elizabeth Martin Robertson, passed away peacefully January 6th surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife, Carol Kvasnicka Robertson; two daughters, Sherri Jones (Keith) of Prince George, and Michelle Clegg (Sue Rama) of Williamsburg; and three grandchildren, Heather Coleman (Hunter), Taylor Jones (Jonnie Bruton), and Graham Jones of Prince George. He is also survived by a sister, Carole Lee of Virginia Beach; a niece and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Ennis of North Carolina. Martin was born in Hopewell, VA and lived his entire adult life in Prince George. After graduating from Hopewell High School, Martin graduated from RPI (now Virginia Commonwealth University) in 1967 where he played on the Rams Basketball team. He received his Juris Doctorate from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond. Martin honorably served for 13 years in the United States Army Reserve earning the rank of Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He began his law practice with the law firm of Eliades and Eliades. In July of 1971 he began his 31 years of service as the Prince George County Commonwealth’s Attorney, retiring in 2003. He also served as the Prince George County Attorney for over 35 years, retiring in 2006. He was a member of the Virginia State Bar, Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, Prince George Bar Association, Hopewell Bar Association, Hopewell-Prince George Bench Bar Association, Virginia Association of Commonwealth’s Attorneys and Commonwealth’s Attorney Services Council, Virginia Association of Local Elected Constitutional Officers, Fort Lee Military/Civilian Council, Riverside Community Corrections Board, 6th Judicial Circuit Bench Bar Committee, Prince George Ruritan Club, Hopewell Kiwanis Club, and Riverside Regional Jail Authority. He was also a member of numerous sportsman’s clubs including Hopewell Saltwater Anglers, Brandon Hunt Club, Neblett’s Mill Fishing Club, and Tar Bay Gun Club. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Gibby Elder officiating. Burial will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
