Hurley Braxton Wilkins

March 23, 1936 — March 6, 2020

Hurley Braxton Wilkins, 83, of Dinwiddie County, passed away on Friday March 6, 2020. He is the son of the late Tyree and Lillie Wilkins. Hurley loved to play music, he was a member of a gospel group called “The Good Glory Band”. Hurley loved learning how to play different instruments. When Hurley wasn’t playing music you could always find him in the kitchen cooking up something delicious. He was also a member of the Masons for 40 years. Hurley was preceded in death by his son Merlin T. Wilkins and a brother Dave Wilkins. Hurley is survived by his son, James L. Wilkins; daughter, Shelia Conlee (Bobby); granddaughters, Elizabeth “Beth” Conlee, and Maegan Cates (Travis); brother, Roland Wilkins (Annie Claire); and sister, Hope Whitten (Lloyd); along with numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday March 12, 2020 at Mount Horeb Baptist Church Chase City. A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday March 12, 2020 at Mount Horeb Baptist Church Chase City with interment to follow in Mount Horeb Cemetery.
