Ian Charles Twilley, 84, of Chester, born April 4, 1927, in London, England, died August 4, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Twilley; children, Howard Twilley (Evelyn), Caroline Smith (Kevin), Rosalind Chambliss (Art) and Jonathan Twilley; grandchildren, Jake Springer, Katie Smith (Chris), Josh Smith, Ian and Whitney Chambliss; and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Madelyn Smith and T.J. Yeatman. Mr. Twilley was a WWII veteran, serving in the Royal Navy until 1947. He then attended the University of London, earning a degree in chemical engineering. While working in the U.K., he was recruited by DuPont and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Two years later, he accepted a position at Allied Chemicalâ??s Technical Center in Chesterfield. He retired in 1987 after working there for 28 years. A memorial service will be held at St. Johnâ??s Episcopal Church in Chester, Virginia, on Saturday, August 13, at 11 a.m. No flowers please.
