Ida Barbour Lumpkin, also lovingly known as Momma, Grannie, Monk, Lump Lump, and Sugar Lump, 90, of Chester, passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, January 15, 2017. She was born on May 21, 1926 in Sandy Level, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Stewart W. Lumpkin. She is survived by her one and only daughter, Evon Gosnell; granddaughters, Sharon Rogers (Mike), Diane Morris (Chuck), and Linda Goodman; great-grandchildren, Derek Rogers and Danielle Jones; and numerous other extended family and friends. Ms. Lumpkin was employed with DuPont retiring after 29 years. She was a long time member of Chester Baptist Church where she served over three decades in the Homebound Ministry. The family would like to thank the staff at Tyler’s Retreat for their wonderful care over the past year. They will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Chester Baptist Church, 4317 School St., Chester, VA 23831. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
