Cary Packard Stiff, II, 71, of Petersburg, Va., and Idaho Springs, Colo., died at his Virginia home Saturday, May 3. He was born in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Cary P. and Helen C. Stiff. He received a bachelorâ??s degree from Dartmouth College and a masterâ??s degree in journalism from Columbia University. He was the former co-editor and publisher of The Clear Creek Courant in Idaho Springs and a past president of the International Society of Weekly Newspaper Editors. He is survived by his wife, Carol Wilcox; two daughters, Meg Spodick of Framingham, Mass., and Catherine Andrzejewski of Baldwinsville, N.Y.; and one son, Cary P. Stiff III, of Twin Falls, Idaho. Other survivors are a brother, David Stiff of Charlestown, R.I.; two sisters, Winona Lincoln of Reed City, Mich., and Martha Wallace of Madison, Wis.; and eight grandchildren.
