Channing Feild Baskerville III, 55, of Chester died Thursday June 18, 2009 following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his parents Channing Feild Baskerville Jr. and Elizabeth Eanes Baskerville of McKenney; his wife Jill Clark Baskerville of Chester; children, Wesley and wife Cameron of Chester, Ashleigh of Richmond, Tyler of Chester, Selena Vantrease and husband Eric of Richmond, Aaron Gonzalez of New York City, Gregory Gonzalez of Chester; Granddaughters, Haley and Desiree; his sister Jean Alcott and husband Ken of Richmond; his brother Edward Baskerville and wife Becky of McKenney; 3 nephews and 2 nieces. Feild graduated from Louisburg College, Virginia State University and also attended Virginia Tech. He started his professional career at the Bank of McKenney, and transitioned into education which was his passion. Beloved by his students and colleagues alike, he inspired many with his innovative teaching style and his devotion to his students. He began his teaching career in Hopewell and most recently was a science teacher at Carver Middle School. Feild gave much time to the work of the church through
Prison ministry, youth leadership, and will be remembered for his dedication. An avid outdoorsman, he spent many happy days hiking and camping with family and friends. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 19 at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morris & Son Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Colonial Heights Baptist Church, 17201 Jefferson Davis Highway, interment will follow at the Church of the Good Shepherd Cemetery in McKenney. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Thomas Johns Cancer Center at Johnston-Willis Hospital in Richmond. Condolences may be registered at www.jtmorriss.com
