India Sue Brittle Ridout, 71, of Chester, VA, passed away on January 23, 2025. Retired from decades of service to the Commonwealth, as a workforce development manager, she led training sessions across the state, from her hometown roots in Wakefield, to the mountains where her brothers lived. A loving wife and mother of two sons, she was the loudest supporter of her boys in all their goals, from the soccer fields through master's degrees and a Ph.D.
She earned a bachelor's degree from Campbell College, with a career in human resources that spanned Maryland and North Carolina, as well as, her home state of Virginia.
Born September 28, 1953, in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of the late Rubin Marshall Brittle and Alma Leclare Griffin Brittle. Her loving husband, C. Stuart Ridout preceded her in death; as did her brother, Marshall Kenneth Brittle, Sr.
In her final years, she resided in Fredericksburg, VA, with her eldest son and family. She is survived by two sons, John (Amy) Ridout and Gregory (Trina) Ridout; and four grandchildren, John, Eleanor, Miles, and Charlotte. She is also survived by a brother, Rubin Coleman Brittle (Nancy), of Blacksburg; a sister-in-law, Linda Vaughan Brittle, of Bristol; nieces and nephews, Lorraine Brittle, Marshall Brittle, Jr., Eric Brittle, Ryan Brittle, and Renee Brittle Stansbury; brother-in-law, Bradley Ridout (Susan); and niece, Jo Kolb (Steve). All services will be private. The family is being served by the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home.
