Inez Mylum Baber. formerly of 200 Prince George Avenue in Hopewell, Virginia, passed away on December 29, 2005. She was 95. Inez lived with her daughter Carolyn Doten and her husband, George, in Tucson, Arizona since 1998 and survived her husband, Ralph Leon Baber, by 25 years. She is survived by daughter, Carolyn, and sons Dale, who lives in Mobile, Alabama, and Michael who lives in Atlanta, Georgia. She has six grandchildren; Dale?s children ? Julie, Glenn and Laurie; and Michael?s children ? Gayle, Karen and Donna; and 11 great-grandchildren Mrs. Baber was born August 21, 1910 in Ringgold, Virginia. She was the youngest child of Samuel J. Mylum and Katherine Florencia Hodges. She had 9 brothers and sisters, all deceased. She attended University of Richmond-Westhampton, Averett College in Danville, and Fredericksburg State Teacher?s College. Inez came to Hopewell in 1930 and taught Elementary School for 7 years. She served as president of the PTA and was a 63- year member of the Woman?s Club of Hopewell, Inez, Ralph and Carolyn lived in South Korea, Taiwan, and England, She was a teacher and lecturer of Ikebana and Ikenobo (Japanese) flower arranging for 27 years. Inez was an active member, and sometimes Sunday School teacher, of the First Baptist Church in Hopewell, where she maintained a connection after moving to Tucson. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 3, 2006 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Hopewell Chapel of J. T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. in First Baptist Church, Hopewell, with the Rev. Joe Ivey officiating. She will be buried alongside her husband at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, Prince George County. Memorial contributions may be made to Ringgold Baptist Church, Ringgold, VA 24586.
