Inez Horner Starke

Inez Horner Starke, 98, of Chester, VA, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hopewell, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charles Horner and Patricia Wray Sherrick; and was also preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Starke; a daughter, Patricia Ann Starke; one granddaughter, Crystal Clary; a great-grandson, Mason Sacra; her granddaughter-in-law, Paula Maile; and six siblings, Charles Horner, Jr., Clarence Horner, Paul Horner, Maryland Blanchard, Jo-Ann Blowe, and Geraldine Bryant. Mrs. Starke will be remembered by her family as a loving and devoted mother and granny. Throughout the years she helped in raising all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many kids in her community who all affectionately referred to her as Granny. Mrs. Starke had been a longtime member of Rivermont Presbyterian Church, and most recently was a member of Family of God Church in Enon. She is survived by her four children, Nora Sacra, Betty Steadman (Mack), Jim Starke (Nancy), and Carol Marshall; eight grandchildren, Tom Maile, Jr. (Lori), Terri Guilliams (Bob), Jeremy Sacra (Steffany), Jessica Hancock (Brian), Joseph Steadman, James Lee Starke, Katie Durnal (Nathan), and Becky Tigner (Pat); twenty great-grandchildren, Lorynn, Lyndsie, Morgan, Holly, Landon, Camryn, Joe, Madison, Cullen, Brooklynn, Maverick James, Remington Lee, Adeline, Travis, Alexus, Tiara, Kekoa, Alice, Zoe, and Ryan; five great-great-grandchildren, Hayden, Memphis, Revan, Christopher, and Asher; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Betty Hobbs, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Chester, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
