Irene Agnes Brobst, 90, of Hopewell, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. She was retired from Fort Lee after working as a secretary with the Civil Service for thirty years. Mrs. Brobst was a strong Christian woman and lived a Godly life; she was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Hopewell. She loved her family. Mrs. Brobst is preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Brobst; a son, Charles R. Brobst Jr.; and her parents, Frank and Mary Borowitcz Lipiec. She is survived by her son, Robert A. Brobst and wife Teresa; daughters, Carol Fee, Marilyn Brobst, Linda Casey and husband Ray, Janice Keener and husband Kenny, and Barbara Anders; sixteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Delores and Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church in Hopewell, Virginia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with Father Frank Wiggins as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia.
