J.C. "Bud" Queen Jr.

J.C. “Bud” Queen, 76, of Dinwiddie, passed away at his residence with his family at his side, on Saturday, August 16, 2014. Born in Buckhannon, WVA, he was the son of the late Junior C. and Rose Depoy Queen. A retired truck driver, Bud was a member of Namozine Volunteer Fire Department, Dixie Land Pullers, Virginia Tractor Pullers Association, and Teamsters Joint Council #83 of Virginia. In retirement, his passion was building competition pull trucks, and the love of his life was working at Virginia Motorsports Park. His hobbies also included horseback riding and taking care of his horses. Bud was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Nancy Wray Queen, and a sister, Jean Crites. He is survived by his daughters, Vickie Hawkins and husband, Dickie, and Loraine Murphy and husband, Edwin; granddaughter, Amber Dawn Williams; great-grandchildren, Destiny and Daelyn Whitney; three grand-dogs, Opie, Herbie and Zipper; brothers, Bill Queen and wife, Agnes, and Mike Queen and wife, Peggy; sister, Helen Casey, and was blessed to have two devoted and loving women in his life, Dorothy Queen and Annie Gibbs Queen. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to express special thanks to his caregivers, Connie Winston, Hattie Bonner, and Beth and Joyce from Hospice of Virginia. A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, at the Petersburg Chapel of J. T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service. Interment will follow at Southlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
