James Harville Mavor, 87, of Waverly passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at his home. Born on April 16, 1925, he was the son of the late James and Louise Harville Mavor. He was a lifelong resident of Waverly where he was a watch maker by trade and owned and operated James Mavor Jeweler and Mavorâ??s Department Store. He was a member of the Astrea Lodge #246 in Waverly and served in the US Army during World War II.
He is survived by his beautiful, loving wife of 45 years, Mary â??Chessieâ? Herbert Mavor; his son, Harville MacKenzie Mavor; his daughter, Mary Catherine Rooney and son-in-law, John A. Rooney, Jr.; four grandchildren, James-Jacob Jason Mavor, Matthew MacKenzie Mavor, Connor James Rooney, and Mary Audrey Rooney; niece, Louise Ezzell; and nephew, John Deekens. He was also preceded in death by his son, James Herbert Mavor and sister, Catherine M. Deekens.
The family will receive friends at the Wakefield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 22, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Waverly Cemetery.
