Jack Alexander Mchugh

MCHUGH, Jack Alexander, 93, passed away on Saturday, May 26, 2018. He was born in Spartanburg, SC in 1925. Jack served in the Army during WWII, then attended the Univ. of Tenn. and graduated with a B.S. in Agriculture Business. At UT, he met his bride, Barbara Talley McHugh, and later raised three sons. Jack was employed at Southern States Cooperative and held various leadership positions over his 36-year career. He retired in 1987 as Group VP, Wholesale Services. An avid golfer, Jack was a member of Meadowbrook C.C. and formerly served as President of the Board of Directors. He attended Chester United Methodist Church and held various leadership positions over his 48 years there. His wife of 61 wonderful years, Barbara, died in 2011. He is survived by his brother, Ernest McHugh, Jr. (Martha); sons, Ed McHugh (Judy), Tom McHugh (Lynn) and Jeff McHugh; grandchildren, Matthew McHugh (Sarah), Eric McHugh (Valerie), Zane McHugh (Carleen) and Valire Goforth; great-grandchildren, Addison McHugh, Kyle McHugh, Jackson McHugh and Kenzie McHugh. Friends and family visitation will be held on Friday, June 8, 6:00 to 8:00pm at J.T. Morriss & Son, 3050 W. Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831. A memorial service will be held at Chester United Methodist Church, 12132 Percival St., Chester, VA 23831 on Saturday, June 9, at 2:00pm, with a reception to follow.
